PageWatcher ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that monitors web page elements for changes and notifies users when updates are detected. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our extension and services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our monitoring service:
- Account Information: Your name and email address when you register (either directly or via Google Sign-In).
- Watcher Configuration: The URLs and CSS selectors of the specific page elements you choose to monitor.
- Change Snapshots: Text content of monitored elements when a change is detected, stored for your change history.
- Subscription Data: Payment and billing information processed securely by our third-party payment provider (Lemon Squeezy).
🔒 We do NOT collect your browsing history, personal files, keystrokes, or any data from pages you are not actively monitoring.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Monitoring Service: To check your selected page elements for changes at your configured intervals.
- Notifications: To send you email and/or push notifications when changes are detected.
- Account Management: To authenticate you and manage your subscription plan.
- Service Improvement: To maintain, improve, and troubleshoot our services.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
- All API communications use HTTPS encryption.
- Authentication tokens are securely stored and managed.
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google OAuth: For optional Google Sign-In authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Lemon Squeezy: For payment processing. Subject to Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any other third parties.
6. Chrome Extension Permissions
Our extension requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:
- activeTab: To read the content of the current page when you activate the element picker.
- storage: To save your authentication token and extension preferences locally.
- notifications: To display browser notifications when changes are detected.
- alarms: To schedule periodic checks of your monitored pages.
- scripting: To inject the visual element picker on pages you choose to monitor.
- identity: To facilitate Google Sign-In authentication.
- host_permissions (all URLs): Required to monitor elements on any website you choose. We only access pages you explicitly configure for monitoring.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (watchers, change history, and personal information) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and view your personal data through your account.
- Delete individual watchers or your entire change history at any time.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Export your data upon request.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a notice in the extension or sending you an email.
